The Future Combat Air System — widely known as FCAS — was conceived as far more than a next-generation warplane. Valued at roughly €100 billion, the program sought to deliver a fully integrated sixth-generation aerial warfare ecosystem, pairing an advanced manned fighter jet with a network of armed and unarmed drones operating in coordinated combat formations.
