Faces of Readiness: Hospitalman Aubrielle Williams Supports Navy Families in Rota

ROTA, Spain - Hospitalman Aubrielle J. Williams, assigned to Navy Medicine Readiness and Training Command (NMRTC) Rota, supports Navy readiness as a hospital corpsman working in labor and delivery. By caring for expectant mothers and newborns, Williams helps provide service members and their families with dependable healthcare far from home.

She joined the Navy seeking opportunities to travel, help people and continue her education.

In labor and delivery, Williams supports families through life-changing moments. Although she may not always treat service members directly, caring for their dependents helps reduce a source of worry for Sailors managing deployments and demanding schedules.

"While service members are on deployment or have a busy schedule, we provide their loved ones support and take care of them," said Williams. "This can be one more stress factor taken off a Sailor's mind."

Each birth gives Williams an opportunity to see Navy Medicine's impact firsthand. The work reinforces her purpose of helping others while supporting the health and resilience of the families behind the warfighter.

Williams credits her upbringing with teaching her to value diversity and remain open to different perspectives. Those lessons help her care for patients and work alongside Sailors from a wide range of backgrounds.

She has also found a strong sense of belonging within Navy Medicine. Williams said her coworkers welcomed her, encouraged her development and made sure she continued learning.

"To wear this uniform means I have a sense of pride and identity," said Williams. "No matter how far I am from home, I have a family. It also means that I have a purpose to serve and help those around me."

Today, Williams supports Navy Medicine's mission in Spain by caring for the families who stand behind the warfighter. Her work helps strengthen the readiness and resilience of the Navy community while she builds the skills and experience needed for a career of service.

NMRTC Rota serves as a force multiplier in Navy Medicine's strategic global medical support mission throughout Europe, Africa and the Middle East while supporting operational readiness and maintaining a strategic repository of expertise at Naval Hospital Rota on the Iberian Peninsula.

For 250 years, Navy Medicine, represented by more than 44,000 highly trained military and civilian healthcare professionals, has delivered quality healthcare and enduring expeditionary medical support to the warfighter on, below and above the sea, and ashore.
